There are many people unfamiliar with older songs from non big-three groups so I thought it would be great to highlight some iconic and nostalgic releases. First up, we have Replay’s Sleazy Little Brother.

SHINee’s first line in their debut song was 누난 너무 예뻐서 (noonan neomu yeppeoseo) with the song we all know and love, Replay. 3 years later, a new group released another song about noona, opening up with the line 누나의 향기는 (noonnaui hyanggineun). Yup that’s right, I’m talking about Teen Top’s song, No More Perfume on You.

Teen Top, standing for Teenager Emoboy Emotion Next generation Talent Object Praise, was a smiley young boy group who debuted in 2010 with an average age of 16. In 2011 when No More Perfume on You was released, they continued to hold on tight to their youthful image. BUT they aren’t just telling Noona she’s their MVP, they’re telling Noona to stop wearing perfume because their girlfriend might find out D:

That’s right. Our Teenage Eboys are CHEATERS. And Chunji has the AUDACITY to be smiling the ENTIRE TIME. The song with its incredibly sleazy lyrics was written and composed by none other than Bang Si Hyuk.

Despite the trashy theme, the song itself is quite catchy. Teen Top’s image pulls it off incredibly well and the MV portrays the narrative perfectly. The song and MV first seems to be an appreciation towards Noona, telling her that he perfume smells sweet and how they “feel like a man” when they’re with her and how she’s so pretty. During this time, the MV just shows all these nice shots of Noona in her mature styling, spraying perfume and talking to our boy Chunji on the phone. But then when they hang up, our smiley little cheater goes back to his friends and puts his arm around ANOTHER GIRL.

Once you finally comprehend what a sleazy guy he is, the chorus starts at the perfect time to say,

“Don’t use perfume, My girlfriend might find out”

OH MY LIKE WHAT? You really think that’s the worst part of the MV but it just gets worst.

He’s with his girlfriend texting Noona and eventually the girlfriend gets suspicious. She smells something on him and wonders what it could be. You think Chunji’s in deep water now but no he just whips out NOONA’S PERFUME and GIFTS IT TO HER. Like WOW that’s some ballsy move. And wait there’s more…

The girlfriend then gets dolled up and sprays the perfume on while Chunji is at some bar/club with Noona getting all cozy n shit. The girlfriend then shows up at that very bar to see Chunji. Her body covers what may (or may not be???) noona. Chunji looks up and just SMILES. THAT SAME SMILE HE USES WHEN HE CHEATS ON HER. There are 2 options here: She catches him cheating and he has the audacity to just SMILE or this he actually planned to meet her there. And our MV finishes with this ambiguous ending and sleazy expression.

While I’ll still bop to the song and marvel in the videography, I must say for the past decade, Chunji’s face would trigger in me random feelings of hatred towards men. I hope you all enjoyed meeting Replay’s sleazy little brother today.
